What Does a CDSM Do?
A Certified Demand Side Manager (CDSM) plans, manages, administers, executes, or supports demand-side management (DSM), load management (LM), or demand response (DR) programs. The CDSM proposes DSM, LM, and DR strategies, technologies, and projects to utilities, to local, state, and federal government clients, and to end-use customers.
A CDSM also takes part in monitoring and evaluating energy procurement, energy utilization, and energy cost reduction projects and in deciding which ones get approved or modified. This work applies a range of energy principles to show the impact on utility and customer costs, resiliency, capacity, reliability, and project financials.
The CDSM understands how customers, utilities, and communities view DSM, LM, and DR program frameworks and how energy programs align with organizational goals and expectations.
